Phish 1994: 20 Years Later 04/13/1994 New York, NY

The first of what I believe to remember as being a sold out 3 night stand.  The band was pretty pumped going into this run as not only was it their first chance to play the Beacon, but a 3 night right at that.  Earlier in the day they when on the radio to promote Hoist which as you can imagine being in New York City on the eve of their biggest run yet there, would be good business.

When they took the stage however, no Hoist to be found and right into it with Buried Alive.  An otherwise average first set with one Hoist tune, a real nice Stash and 14 minute Divided comprise the activities.

Set two opens with Fishman on acoustic for Faht, a tune still not played to date in 2014 since December 1995.  A real playful set with rare nuggets such as the already mentioned Faht as well as A-Train and set highlights of David Bowie and AC/DC Bag.  Nice 10+ minute Bag to close out the show is a notable version.

A relatively predictable opener to the big Beacon run with much more still to come.

We are very lucky to have a wide range of high quality sources for this show and run.  Eliot Byron checks in for his first of many high quality Schoeps FOB efforts in 1994 with the Dankseed for this show.  In addition to the quality AKG sources that are plentiful throughout the year, this run we get a taste of Neumann and B&K seeds as well.  Plenty to choose so I recommend seeing which you like as they each offer a different take on the show.  Would love to hear comments on the sources from others.
