Archiving of Live Recordings

That concludes the archiving of all my Live Recording links on this Blog that I have made in the past 15 months since I dove deeply back into the Live Taping hobby.  71 or so some odd shows.  What a run.

I will only be using the Live Recoring Label on this blog to record show links/information of stuff I post etc.  Other Labels on this blog will be used to communicate the rest.  This is so when clicking on Blog Posts for Live Recordings, that is exactly what you will get.

- This show concluded the North American leg of the tour for 2009. They are off to Europe starting on Nov 22, 2009.

Notes from Lenny:
I want to say that was the 3rd show I ever taped!

I was definitely FOB, pretty centered if I remember.  I was definitely
sitting (along with the rest of the crowd), and the mics were handheld
mostly on my lap or slightly raised at times till my arms got tired.  I
remember some noticeable spots of me shifting the mics around on my lap
(the PZM's were flat stage mics with top pickup), as I was REALLY
uncomfortable the whole show.

[LMA] Bela Fleck & Flecktones 10/21/96 Rockwell Hall, Buffalo, NY (uncirc)

Many thanks to Lenny for kicking this down to me to circulate. This was the first (and only known) live BFFT playing of "Moontides" - I wasn't able to find it anywhere else on the BFFT setlist file. It's actually off of the New Grass Revival album from 1987 so it's a true rarity!

- side note... I decided to take a shot at the balcony as opposed to setting up down front (the UM crowds can be a little rowdy) or back by the sbd where the venue would direct you (not the best location for sound). So I slipped past the "balcony closed" barrier, and headed up to an area I hadn't been to in almost 13 years, to find just a handful of people sitting on the benches who had access. This balcony is typically reserved for VIPs only from what I learned.

Many have taped here before, but I personally haden't since moe. 3/28/97 where redrain (Dr. Stan) and myself coined the phrase "The Tapers Cove", as this was a great spot where we had a nice little setup closed off DFC in this low key balcony area. Well it was just as I remembered it. Perfect birds eye view of the band completely DFC above the noisy crowd below with the perfect vantage point for pointing mics. I thought the sound was great, with very little crowd noise as we had just dozen or so people for the 1st set, and it maybe doubled for the 2nd set.

So my return to the Tapers Cove went great, and I hope to setup shop there again at Water Street in the future, security permitting.
